Two Months?!?

Well, I am hardly on the once a week blogging plan that I swore to at the start of this year. It seems like the longer I let the blog slide, the harder it is to get back up on the horse (and the more monumental it feels the post should be). While my first post in two months may not be of monumental proportions, the pile of clay in the photo to the left (aka Mt. Reclaim) may fit the bill. I've come to find in my two months as studio tech at ncc that reclaiming clay is a lot like doing laundry: a never ending project!

I feel for you. Last semester, that's all I did for the class, was reclaim clay, and mix glazes... I think I got enough time to throw 6 pieces all semester!
However, I did reclaim and mix 6 - 33 gal. trash cans of clay to make 9 cans full, and mixed about 60 - 80 gals. of glazes, so the class was not a total loss - ie. I did learn how to do all the grunt work and heavy lifting...

Whew, I don't envy you. Would love to see what you've been working on when you're not reclaiming clay.

Sounds like you know what I'm talking about, Robert! I just kind of look at it as my daily strength training routine :)

Hey Kip,

Let me guess, next you need to "de-air" the clay following it's trip from the mixer.

Glad to seeing you post again. I know what you mean about being gone from blogging and then "re-entering." It's monumental... just like that mountain of clay!
